I had to put Harriet (our cat) down today. She had been sick for a couple of day and when I came home from work she couldn't stand up. She was only 6 so it was very sudden and unexpected.

The thing is she was a wonderful, sweet and gentle cat. She was a sneaky cat and was smarter than I am. We just pretended that she was evil and nasty because it was funny. ;)

Darn! I was so hoping to read that she had gotten better. I am so sorry. I'm not good at things like this. But then who wants to be good at expressing sympathy and condonlences?
Thank you so much for your kind comment over at my blog. And thanks for the link to Rainbows. I am going to check them out and follow up on your suggestions about talking to Zach.

Barbara,
I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty, and know that I'm sending good thoughts and hugs. I know exactly how that feels, as I had to put my own dear dog down 4 years ago.

I don't know if this will offer any comfort to you, but I found this website helpful after my dog passed -- someone told me about this website, http://www.petloss.com/ which is a really nice site you can go to honor your wee friend - they call the final resting place "The Rainbow Bridge." And when I thought of my lil doggie in that context - happy, healthy, and playing at this sweet place- even though it was fictional, it was very comforting and made me happy. I was also able to submit her name, date of death, and a little note to her. I shed many tears when I did it, but I was glad I did it. I was able to go back in and view my entry to her at any time. It helped.

I hope this has been a little help. HUGS and please know that Harriet is always going to be with you, regardless. :)
