This was my attempt at having a green thumb. I love plants but they hate me, my home, my kids and my cat. I bought this beautiful Jade plant in the beginning of the summer. This is what is left of it. I tried to keep it healthy, I really did. I don't know if it is the lighting or that I forgot to water it for a month and a half. Maybe it didn't like the cat biting it's leaves off. Maybe it was distressed by at the many times my kids knocked it over. At any rate it is dead. RIP dear Jade plant and know that you were loved.

What is it with Sunday? I always have so much I want to do but I end up just being tired and shuffling around my pajamas. I usually go back to bed and read then have a nap. My job is very demanding and I work very hard 5 days a week but by Sunday I have no energy to do anything. I end of feeling guilty. I want to be one those women that get up, have a shower, do their hair and makeup and DO stuff. It is 3:16. Tell me. What do you do on your day off work?

I always find myself feeling the same way at the end of the weekend. This weekend I did accomplish more than I do most, started moving flowers around for the winter, mowed the lawn, made a big pot of chili. My body is tired and sore now though and I need a weekend from my weekend - it is a no win situation. Enjoy your time hanging around the house - work will be here before you know it as it is bed time in my time zone :)

Farewell, jade plant, we hardly knew ye. I recently killed a plant, too. It really needed more soil and I didn't come through... The weekends go by *so* fast, don't they? We need to institute regular 3-day weekends: 1 day to laze around and do nothing, one day to get stuff done, and one day to psyche up for the upcoming work-week. Sometimes I get more done if I make myself exercise first thing on a Sat. or Sun. morning. But that doesn't happen often...

My MIL sent me home with some jade plant cuttings this summer. I never took them out of the plastic baggie, and they baked to a crisp out on the patio.

What do I do on the weekends? I lay around a lot and take inventory of what I *should* be doing: cleaning, cooking, exercising, etc. None of it ever gets done. I spend Sunday nights feeling guilty, while I watch Desperate Housewives. Then I turn in and start the whole work week/wasted weekend cycle all over again. Big sigh!

I have one plant! I've had it since 1993 - a graduation gift from the woman who would one day become my mom-in-law. It spends recovery time in Rhode Island whenever I feel I am loosing it. My twins knocked it over the other day and its not looking so good. Time to visit grandma!!

Plants hate me too, I had one that actually was growing for me, but uh, my hubby smashed it when he was mad at me. Long story.

I always feel that way on my day off, on Sunday I refused to listen to my longing to go back to sleep, and even to stay in my PJ's and I did laundry instead, started with stripping my bed bare and putting the linens in the washer to keep myself from going to bed.

Desparate times call for desparate measures. Well, at least my sheets are clean.

I usually clean and clean on Saturdays so I don't have to do anything on Sunday.

I don't do plants either. They tend to wilt as I walk by them in stores.

oh yay! I'm not the only one who has killed a Jade plant!

And Leslie... I'd always heard that jade plants were supposed to be one of the hardest plants to kill, and so I jsut thought I was really, really bad at keeping things alive! Your words bring me great comfort! :D

My usual 'do-nothing-day' of the week is Friday. Everyone in my real world knows if they wanna reach me by phone, this is the best time to do it.
I sit around in my jammies and my wool sox, drinking coffee and maybe doing online b.s.; enjoying the day while my kids are at school. On this day I vow not to open a book, study, or do anything college-related. No errands, housework, nothing. It all has to wait. This is my unwind, my rejuve. ;)

Well lets see, On my days off I do stuff I need to do but I try very hard to just stay in bed or on the couch at least one day of every week. Its good for me I know it is!

You know you can bring that Jade plant back to life with just a little but of attention and cutting it down to basically a nub.
Trust me it will work.:)

Some plants have it good and some don't. Obviously this one was tramatized by everything it had been through and just called it quits...oh well. I've always been a firm believer that we should work our buns off Saturday & Sunday and have a 5 day weekend. Maybe I'm wrong because I can never seem to find a job that wants to go along with the idea.
