I took our tree down yesterday and packed up all the decorations for another year. It is nice to have my home back in order. Not that it ever is in order. It is usually pretty messy. During my time off I have implemented some new ideas to get the kids doing more for themselves. I posted these on the wall because I am tired of saying the same thing over and over and over...
Being the tyrant that I am I have my kids (8 & 9) make their own school lunches but I discovered that they will just fill their lunch box with granola bars.
Is there anything that you have implemented in your home that make s life easier? I am open to suggestions!

Cool! I love those lists.

Of course, mine are too young to follow such a thing (4 and 6).

Though I do try and get them to do as much independently as they can (whilst the missus insists that they are too young).

It felt good to clean up the Christmas messes here too.

We used lists here - now the rules are memorized and I don't have to have them posted. The boys, from a young age, have had to make their beds (or atleast straighten the blanket a bit and set the stuffed animals up - depending on ability.) They have to put away toys they take out, put dirty laundry in the hamper in their room (not on the floor) and they love to help with other random things. Get them while they're young!

Actually Barb, I'm thinking about ripping your lists off! LOL Those are pretty good. Maybe I should implement something like that so that I don't ahve to yell all the time. ;)

Our Christmas stuff is down too. I love having it up but I'm always ready when it's time to take it down. A month is long enough!

My kids make their own lunches too. Actually, I make the sandwiches and they add the rest. Well okay...I'm still not being truthful. My daughter is 16 and doesn't NEED TO EAT LUNCH MOM so I don't know how she lives.

The lists made me laugh. Except the lunch one which is really sensible.
I guess they are all sensible really. But they made me laugh anyways.
I don't have any special things I do to make things run smooth in my house. Which probably explains why we are always running around like maniacs all the time,ha,ha..

It's usually a tradition for me to take everything down on New Year's Day, but since we didn't put anything up this year, it was a breeze.

The bucketful of granola bars is prob'ly something I'd do now so I've got nothin' for helpful tips ;)

If you eat, you either cook or clean up.
If you mess it up, clean it up.
If I'm asleep, BE QUIET!
